Statement by Senator John McCain on U.S. Court of Appeals Ruling Regarding Sharon Helman

Statement

Date: May 9, 2017
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ) released the following statement on the U.S. Court of Appeals' ruling today regarding Sharon Helman:

"I am deeply disappointed in the U.S. Court of Appeals' ruling today and disagree with the court's opinion that a key accountability measure in the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act is unconstitutional. I am working with my colleagues in Congress to soon introduce new bipartisan legislation that will strengthen accountability measures of the Choice Act and expand authority the VA Secretary needs to remove bad actors within the VA. It's past time we prioritize the health and wellbeing of our veterans over the job security of a federal bureaucrat."
